Captain's Fishing Reports

Hampton River Red Fish

St Simons Island Fishing Report June 15, 2018

Fishing in June can often be tricky do to the constant emergence of bait fish entering the marsh. Today’s fishing charter started out pretty darn tricky until we figured out the structure the baitfish were hiding on. We left our early pattern of shell and docks and switched over to man made rock walls and ballist piles. Young Griffin, figured out that light presentations were going to work best in order to prevent hang-ups and losing tackle (and fish!). But before the day was out, Griffin had a nice St Simons fishing slam of trout, redfish and flounder! We did indeed lose some rigs and fish today, but fishing the heavier structures made this a successful and fun fishing charter! We released most fish but kept a few nice flounder for dinner!
