St Simons Fishing Report May 2021
Spring is here in the Golden Isles of Southeastern Georgia, and with that comes an abundance of migrating species. In addition to our year round residents of red fish, sea trout, sheepshead and black drum; tarpon, triple tail, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and flounder will join the fray! While weather and tide will dictate the targeted species at times, the warmer weather does offer many different angling opportunities. All types of tackle and techniques will and can be included fishing St Simons and the surrounding area. Live bait, artificial lures and fly tackle all have a place here. Many anglers come to the Golden Isles to knock tarpon and triple tail off their list, as our area has world class fishing for both! Feel free to email us at Capt.Tim cutting@gmail for any questions, tips or techniques that may make your fishing trip to the Golden Isles a successful one!

Probably no better way for your family or group to explore or fish the marshes surrounding @ Saint Simons than with Coastal Outdoor Adventures or Southeast Adventure Outfitters. With Nov/Dec avg daily temps of 60-70 degrees, it’s the perfect time. Dolphins, bald eagles, pelicans, wood storks, egrets, herons and others are in abundance right now!

Nicer conditions, but tougher bite. Go figure. Was fortunate to have another marsh master and just plain good dude, James Skipper Zimmerman, on the sled today! We threw the kitchen sink at them and finally ended up with a good mess of trout, reds, drum and sheepshead. See you soon buddy, and have a nice Thanksgiving!

Bernard has been fishing with me for over 12 years and his luck (skill) seems to increase every year! Bernard brought his buddy John Paul on this trip, and what a great way to be introduced to our marshes as these guys whacked them pretty good today! Drum, flounder, reds, trout and sheepshead all bit pretty hard! We mixed it up with the Harper`s Super Striker and 1/4 jigs. Thanks Bernard, looking forward to the next 12years…or more!

Not the prettiest of days but there was no use trying to talk Drew and Dale out of it. And the guys from Douglas doubled down and doubled up! The fish were pretty fired up and we left them biting today. Trout, reds, drum and a few bonus flounder. Released a few over slots, including another tagged fish. Rolled with the Strikers all day.

True legends of the fall! Every November, Frank, Mike, David, Ed, Henry, and Scott roll in for some fall fishing. Timing couldn’t have been better as lots of laughs and lots of fish for two days of great weather and tides! A big fat thank you to Captain Neil Bulla for helping me out on these last two days! (And putting the fellas on a pile of fish!) See you guys next November! John Spivey, you were with us in spirit the whole time!

Been looking forward to the return of Mike for awhile now. Mike brought his crew, Tony, Tim, Robert and Jeff on this go round. While Mike, Tony & Tim rode on my sled,a special thanks to Captain Drew Jones, for helping me out and hauling Robert and Jeff around the marsh. (Capt. Drew and crew whacked them pretty good!) And when Mike comes to town, it’s bonus time as his son Cody Marlowe and The Murphs will be bringing the 🔥to Murphy’s Saloon this Friday night for some great music!

Good times today with Chuck, Mike and Jimbo, for our annual Fl/Ga pre-game marsh patrol. We usually split the trip between light tackle and heavier stuff for the bull reds. The inshore bite finally fired off for us, but could not land on even ONE bull. Nevertheless, never a dull moment with some awesome anglers and just plain good people! Go Dawgs!!
