St Simons Fishing Report May 2021
Spring is here in the Golden Isles of Southeastern Georgia, and with that comes an abundance of migrating species. In addition to our year round residents of red fish, sea trout, sheepshead and black drum; tarpon, triple tail, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and flounder will join the fray!
While weather and tide will dictate the targeted species at times, the warmer weather does offer many different angling opportunities.
All types of tackle and techniques will and can be included fishing St Simons and the surrounding area. Live bait, artificial lures and fly tackle all have a place here. Many anglers come to the Golden Isles to knock tarpon and triple tail off their list, as our area has world class fishing for both!

It was a grind but me and the better half, Michelle, weeded thru dinks and 85 degree water temps. Water still fairly sweet as well. Literally had to burn the Fourseven swimmers to get bit. Got a few right bites, and lost a good flat fish at the boat. Love having my sweetie ♥️ back on the sled. It had been a minute! #foursevenlures #redfish #trout #betterhalf #nolivebaitneeded

Welp, the water is straight up tannic. Ice tea. Root beer. But we did have 4 days of a pretty good bite! Yesterday with Lawton was a tad tougher as the NE wind blew a little, but the previous 3 days with Kim Arnsdorff and Dr. Morgan, the fish were pretty agreeable. The usual suspects, trout, flounder, reds, black drum, blues, croakers and lady fish all made a showing. No live bait was harmed. All in all, it’s nice to see the fish’s tolerance is pretty strong in this sweet water!
