Captain's Fishing Reports

St Simons Island Fishing Report June 4th, 2018

Water tempatures have crept up into the low 80’s and light winds out of the southwest have settled in. These patterns will provide some excellent conditions for chasing tarpon, large acrobatic spinner sharks, big jacks and triple tails along the beaches of the Golden Isles. It’s a unique fishery with an abundance of marine life working through the food chain.

The rivers will also provide a lot of options, including redfish and flounder. Speckled trout will be scattered, but once found, the action can be steady. There is a large amount of bait fish and forage this time of year, but the right presentation at the right tide stage can make for some great warm weather fishing. If particular species aren’t high on the list, there are a host of other species that will provide constant action! The first 4 days of June did yield good catches of trout, redfish, blackdrum and flounder. Clean tides will prevail thru 6/10 and catches should be good! At the current time we only have a few days open in June and July. If charter fishing around St Simons is high in your list, book ASAP, as the fleet will be completely booked soon!
